Background:

For this digital interactive, visitors will be able to create a “Recently Watched” Netflix list centered around historical figures featured in the museum setting. From a pre-selected list of Netflix titles and historical figures, visitors will be able to choose 3-5 Netflix shows that they feel the historical figure would watch if they were alive today. This interactive was created as a prototype in a classroom setting for the Museum of the American Revolution, but was not in direct collaboration with MAR and will not be shown in the museum. This is the opening screen for the interactive. The images would scroll across the page, the motion inviting visitors to engage with the touchscreen. From here, visitors can select one of the historical figures featured in the museum.

 

Once a historical figure is selected, visitors can read a short bio reminding them of the historical figures contributions and role in history.

 

Visitors are taken to a page where they can view examples of what the museum staff pre-planted to prompt creativity, and they can click on the programs to read why the staff selected the programs. Visitors can then add their own choices from a list:

Once making their selection, they are returned to the Character Select page where they can type their reasoning for why they chose that program. They can either submit their choices or can submit and send their choices to their e-mail. From there, they can add the programs to their own Netflix Watch List, as a virtual takeaway from the museum.

These examples and quotes from visitors would be projected above the interactive to provide visual interest, basic instruction, and quantified information to the visitors.
