“Urban Biographies, Ancient + Modern” Exhibition, Kelsey Museum, 2018

This exhibition showcases three different Kelsey-sponsored field projects at Classical sites in the Mediterranean region. Each site offers a different historical perspective on the phenomenon of urban decline, and collective they shed the light of the past on some of the same issues raised by the current state of Detroit.

Unlike the other cities in this exhibition, Detroit is still a living, vibrant community. Watch these interviews to hear residents describe the ways they are actively making and remaking their neighborhoods.

Marflix, University of the Arts, 2016

For this digital interactive, visitors will be able to create a “Recently Watched” Netflix list centered around historical figures featured in the museum setting. From a pre-selected list of Netflix titles and historical figures, visitors will be able to choose 3-5 Netflix shows that they feel the historical figure would watch if they were alive today. This interactive was created as a prototype in a classroom setting for the Museum of the American Revolution, but was not in direct collaboration with MAR and will not be shown in the museum. A limited version of the interactive can be found here.
