Declaration House

Background:

Recommendations for the exterior of the Declaration house in Philadelphia to promote awareness of this historical site and to educate visitors about the building’s little known relationship to Thomas Jefferson and the birth of our nation.

Big Idea:

I realize Thomas Jefferson had a deep role and presence in Philadelphia.

Goals:

  • Visitors will explore Thomas Jefferson’s presence in Philadelphia through various interpretations: live performances of his music, book kiosks for further information.
  • Visitors will utilize the Declaration House and attached garden to further their education about the Declaration of Independence.

Objectives:

  • Visitors will participate in Declaration House programming.
  • Increased awareness of the historical importance of the Declaration House locally and within Independence Park.
